Yirgacheffe Wodesa
Yirgacheffe Wodesa
At the heart of Ethiopia’s revered Yirgacheffe region stands the Cordia Africana tree, known locally as Wodesa. This majestic tree is more than just part of the landscape; it’s a symbol of life, heritage, and sustainability. For centuries, the tree’s broad canopy has provided essential shade for coffee plants, fostering an ideal microclimate for the development of some of the world’s finest coffees.
The Wodesa tree, with its deep roots and protective shade, represents the bond between nature and cultivation. Coffee farmers in Yirgacheffe have cultivated this coffee under the natural canopy of the Cordia Africana trees for generations, adhering to traditional farming practices that respect the land. This sustainable approach not only protects the environment but also enhances the quality of the coffee itself.
The farmers of Yirgacheffe have long respected the harmonious relationship between the Wodesa tree and their coffee crops. For this reason we chose to name this special coffee "Wodesa," a name that reflects the deep-rooted connection between the land, the people, and the tree that has sheltered their harvests for generations.
Wodesa is not just another Ethiopian coffee—it's an extraordinary Yirgacheffe specialty green coffee that delivers a unique and captivating profile. Grown under the shade of the Cordia Africana trees, this coffee benefits from the nutrient-rich, volcanic soil and the ideal climate of the region, resulting in beans that showcase the vibrant complexity for which Yirgacheffe is famous.
